CAMPAIGN TO STOP GENOCIDE IN DARFUR
Africa Action has been calling for the U.S. to introduce a resolution at the United Nations (UN) to authorize the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force with a minimum of 20,000 troops with a mandate to protect civilians. In August of this year, the U.S. and the U.K. came together and introduced a draft resolution that would authorize up to 17,300 peacekeepers and up to 3,000 additional personnel with a mandate to protect civilians and an initial deployment date of October 1st. It is a clear result of your escalating pressure and the work of tens of thousands of people across the country to raise awareness and advocacy on this issue that we have come to this point. Thank you. Our work is not done, however.
